The buzz about Tumeric

Tumeric is trending, but we do love it too! Tumeric is a deep yellow colored root from the ginger family. The peppery flavor is It needs substantial rainfall to thrive and therefore grows well on the Indian subcontinent and Southeast Asia. There are so many ways to use tummeric, here are just a few ideas.

  1. Golden Milk - we drink before bed

  2. Add to meat and seafood dishes

  3. Make a dip for your veggies

  4. Use as a pickling spice

  5. Pumpkin-apple smoothies!

  6. Coconut squash soup

  7. Make a viniagrette

Our Ideas for Coconut

Coconut is everywhere, it’s one of the flavor du jours. At Rasberry’s we believe in using every part of of the fruit or vegetable. Yes, our chickens do love scraps, but we prefer to make human goodness first. Here are a few ideas we came up with to get your coconut fix.

  1. Coconut water

  2. Shredded coconut

  3. Coconut oil on popcorn, butter flavored of course

  4. Coconut milk - curries and more

  5. Coconut cake

  6. Coconut cake pops

  7. Coconut candy - why not?

  8. Coconut flour

Old School Popcorn Recipe

Use a large, thin pot with a lid that allows for expansion. Choose a pot with a large surface area, but not one that is too deep.

Add 3 tablespoons of Nutiva Organic Coconut Oil – butter flavored of course, to the pan.

To test the temperature add 3 kernels of corn and allow to pop. Once they pop you know the oil has reached the proper temperature.

Remove popped kernels with a pair of tongs and set aside.

Add 1/3 cup of popcorn to the pan, return to heat, cover with lid and shake, shake, shake as the kernels begin to pop.

Empty the popcorn into a big bowl.

Melt 2 tablespoons more of the butter-flavored coconut oil in the hot pan off of heat and lightly coat the popcorn. This will allow the seasonings to adhere.

Shake salt, Rasberrys Jalapeno Ranch, Rasberrys Everything Bagel or whatever your favorite seasonings are. Enjoy!
